In her 50s, Dipo’s mom entered one of the most trying seasons of her life.
A cascade of financial and business difficulties took hold—months of uncertainty, pressure, and loss. But the weight didn’t just land on the bank accounts. It began showing up in her body.
She started experiencing crippling headaches, severe fatigue that sometimes left her unable to get out of bed, joint pain, tooth problems, and a constellation of thyroid-related symptoms. Day after day, the stress wore her down—physically, mentally, and emotionally. She often told Dipo that these conditions were due to the stress of the financial loss that she could not let go. It was a burden she carried in her body just as much as in her mind.
At that time, Dipo was still in high school. She continued to hold a great deal of responsibility for the family—keeping the house in order, managing what she could in her work, and doing it all with the grace and diligence she was known for. A career woman and homemaker, she was deeply respected in their community. The kind of woman who always seemed to be on top of things.
Part of her rhythm was checking in on the children’s rooms—making sure everything was in order and that they were staying on track. She was an amazing parent: deeply involved, lovingly attentive, and nurturing in ways both seen and unseen. One day, she walked into Dipo’s room.
There, on the mirror, was something simple but profound:
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.” – 1 Peter 5:7 NLT
It was an inscription Dipo had placed on the mirror long ago. But on this day, it met her in her moment of need.
She stood there, eyes fixed on those words. And something broke open in her. The truth sank in—not as an idea, but as an encounter. A moment of release. A coming-to-Jesus moment in the quiet of a teenager’s room.
She believed the words.
She handed over the weight she had been carrying—years of performance, months of fear, the silent toll stress had taken on her body and soul. And within a month, something changed. Her body began to recover. The fatigue lightened. The headaches eased. Her joints felt stronger. Even her thyroid symptoms began to settle.
We often talk about health as if it lives only in the body. But true healing is multidimensional—it involves our mind, heart, soul, and spirit. It’s not just about taking a pill or following a protocol. It’s about restoring balance across the whole system.
- Sometimes healing starts with emotional release.
- Sometimes it starts with gut work or detoxification.
- Sometimes it starts with reconciliation—with God, with a loved one, or with your own story.
- And sometimes it begins with a moment so simple—like a verse on a mirror—that it changes everything.
We can’t heal what we don’t honor. And that includes the emotional roots, the spiritual weight, and the mental loops that quietly drive physical dysfunction.
This is why I do the work I do. Because healing isn’t one-dimensional. It’s not linear. It’s sacred and layered. And sometimes, the journey begins where you least expect it.
In loving memory of Tatiek Budi Rahayu—beloved mother, whose life and faith continue to inspire.
